David Gillen is Professor of Transportation & Logistics in the Sauder School of Business and Director, Centre for Transportation Studies, University of British Columbia. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Toronto in 1975. He is former Editor of Journal of Transport Economics and Policy, and former Associate Editor of Transportation Research E: Logistics & Transportation Review. He is on the Editorial Boards of a number of other transportation related journals.
His published research has examined the linkages between governance structures, ownership and regulation, measuring performance of transportation infrastructure, evolving strategies and business models in airlines, airports and ports, studying the role of transportation in the supply chain and the linkage to the economy. In 2017 he was awarded a 5 year $2.4 Million partnership grant to examine Sustainability in the Maritime Supply Chain.
