The 7th International Conference on

Transportation and Space-time Economics (TSTE 2019)

11-13 October, 2019 | Beijing, China

Call for papers for a Special Session of the 7th International Conference on Transportation and Space-time Economics (TSTE), 11-13 October 2019, Beijing, China

Title of the special session: Data-driven Travel Behavior Modeling and Analysis
Recent innovations in affordable information and communication technologies as well as passive data collection techniques generates large amount of individual movement and activity data. These data include smartphone GPS data, transit smart card transactions, taxi GPS data, which cover various transportation modes, such as metro, bus, taxi, public bike, walking and so on. These data, combined other data types such as land use, census and weather data, provide us great opportunities to explore, analyze and model travel behavior with higher spatial and temporal resolution. These efforts could help us obtain better understanding of people’s travel behavior, which could facilitate the planning and design of transportation network and infrastructure. The availability of new data could also enable us to study important issues such as accessibility, equity and exclusion in transportation in a new way.
With the emergence of these new data sets, this research area calls for new methods and models to explore the people’s travel behavior. The key purpose of this special session is (1) promote new methodologies and analysis framework to study travel behavior using emerging data types and (2) to generate knowledge of people’s travel behavior and related issues such as accessibility, equity in transportation, and transportation policies. Potential topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Data-driven Modeling of Transport System
• Big-data-enabled Urban Transit System Operation and Optimization
• Activity and Travel Behavior
• Land Use and Urban Transport
• Transit-oriented Development and Green Travel
