11-13 October, 2019 | Beijing, China

Call for papers for a Special Session of the 7th International Conference on Transportation and Space-time Economics (TSTE), 11-13 October 2019, Beijing, China

Title of the Special Session:
Airline and airport operations & aviation carbon emission policy

Qiang Cui, Zhong-fei Chen & Ye Li

Southeast Universtiy, Jinan University & Nanjing University of Finance & Economics

From the statistical data of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), we know that about 2% of man-made carbon emissions are generated by air transport. Furthermore, more evidences indicate that if the airlines do not take any mitigation measures, the total greenhouse gas emissions in air transport will be 400-600% higher in 2050 than in 2010. In this context, some policies have been proposed to control aircraft emissions to achieve the sustainable development of airline industry, such as European Union Emission Trading Scheme (EU ETS) and the "carbon neutral growth from 2020" strategy (CNG 2020 strategy). These policies have important impacts on airline and airport operations. It is important to discuss these topics. To this end, we hold a Special Session that invites contributions to address research problems related to port and shipping. The scopes and topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

(1) Airline operations management
(2) Airport operations management
(3) Data Envelopment Analysis
(4) Aviation carbon emission policy modeling
(5) Flight scheduling
(6) Airline carbon abatement technology application
(7) Green aviation
(8) Airline competition and cooperation

Submitted papers through strict review process will be recommended to and published in the Special Issue of SCI/SSCI journals.
