Call for papers for a Special Session of the 7th International Conference on Transportation and Space-time Economics (TSTE), 11-13 October 2019, Beijing, China

Title of the Special Session:
Big data and shared transport

Organizers:
Ying Lv & Huijun Sun

Affiliation:
Beijing Jiaotong University

Shared transport systems include carsharing, bicycle sharing (also known as PBS or Public Bicycle Systems), carpools and vanpools (aka ride-sharing or lift-sharing), real-time ridesharing, slugging, casual carpooling, community buses and vans, demand responsive transit (DRT), paratransit, a range of taxi projects and even hitchhiking and its numerous variants, and thereby they create a hybrid between private vehicle use and mass or public transport. With the development and support of mobile Internet and Internet of Things, it will be helpful to explore the characteristics and the diversity of the shared transport systems associated with travel behaviors by using big data mining technologies. Therefore, the development of advanced theories and approaches for the data-driven shared transport studies can improve the efficiency of the public transport system and enhance the enormous convenience for travel. To this end, we hold a Special Session that invites contributions to address research problems related to big data and shared transport. It aims to promote knowledge exchange and scientific excellence in this intriguing field. The scopes and topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

(1) Spatial-temporal shared travel demand estimation
(2) Big data-based travel behavior analysis for the shared transport systems
(3) Pricing of shared transport systems
(4) Promotions, rewards, and compensation of the shared transport systems
(5) The shared transport platform operations modelling and management
(6) Competition and complementarity among the shared transport and other transport modes
(7) Data driven social, economic and environmental impacts of the shared transport systems

Submitted papers through strict review process will be recommended to and published in the Special Issue of SCI/SSCI journals.
